Job Details

Electro-Optics Design and Analysis Lead. Duties include: Model, analyze and evaluate various electro-optical and infrared sensors to populate trade study. Develop EO/IR sensor requirements (and associated documents) and evaluation criteria. Provide sensor supplier technical interface and oversight. Support program design reviews by developing and presenting materials describing technical progress and predicted seeker performance. Required Skills: Proficient with modern EO models and analysis tools such as NV Therm. Proficient defining and performing trade studies by assessing sensor performance characteristics such as NEI, NETD, and SNR. Sensor specification document creation. Supplier technical management (internal and/or external). Desired Skills: Cryo-cooler specification document development. IDCA cold shield design and performance modeling. Required Experience: 10 years or more of relevant EO/IR sensor modeling and performance analysis from 0.5 microns to 12+ microns. Experience working with cooled and uncooled infrared sensors. Experience working with target recognition requirements

An Electro-Optical (EO) engineer performs design and analysis of EO candidate systems for both ground and airborne sensor suite applications. Starting with target/threat signatures in the optical/IR realm, the EO engineer performs design trade studies and system verification analyses to optimize candidate system performance, cost, size and weight. Models and design solutions are fabricated for laboratory test and characterization prior to development of system prototypes for further verification testing. EO systems consisting of advanced optical/infrared material and coatings, state of the art sensors, and advanced laser systems are employed to achieve desired system level performance when integrated system level tower and field testing is accomplished.

Basic Qualifications
Candidate must have experience in radiometric EO analysis and simulation. Position requires operational knowledge of MATLAB, experience with running EO performance analysis simulations, and experience developing target models. The capability to conduct parametric studies to support advanced EO targeting sensor and seeker development is desired

A secret clearance with an investigation within the last 5 years is required

Desired skills
Experience with Code V, MATLAB and MODTRAN is desired

Stray light analysis, or working knowledge thereof. IDCA cold shilled and warm shield design and modeling
