Photonics Integrated Circuits Engineer-This job description is for a mid level electro-optical engineer in photonic telecommunication technologies. The engineer will work with project management, the system's chief scientist, optical designers, optical system's engineers, test engineers, optical-mechanical engineers, pointing and control engineers, thermal engineers, electrical power system engineers, software engineers to be able to architect, design, manufacture, integrate, test and verify a new novel imaging system using photonics integrated circuit technology and Fourier optical processing. The photonics technology includes micro-lenses, planar waveguides, Mach-Zender interferometers, modulators, high frequency comb filters, arrayed waveguide filters, optical multiplexers, etc. The photonics engineer shall lead their part of the effort in photonics technology and may direct technical efforts of others in a collaborative engineering environment. The photonics engineer, should also be familiar with laser based free space telecommunications architecture, including laser sources, transceivers, modulators, and modulation formats. To a lesser degree they will work with other scientists and engineers on adaptive beam control methods for free space communications in the atmosphere. The photonics engineer needs to be familiar with the properties of light such as coherence, speckle, interference, scattering, stray light control, aberration effects, thermal effects, scintillation, vibration, etc. The photonics engineer should be able to communicate and describe the architecture, design, and function to peer reviewers, management, internal and external customers. The photonics engineer should have a capacity to learn, train and work in a team environment

Basic Qualifications
Degree in an Engineering or related field
Proven optical laboratory knowledge and experience, such as one would obtain from a post graduate lab experiments in photonics systems (sensor, lasers, etc.) or proven analysis capability in photonics systems.
Ability to identify specific components and test equipment and laboratory set-ups

Desired skills
Very familiar with photonic integrated circuits, design, simulation, and testing.
Familiar with test equipment operating from 10-40 GHz, and visible and near infrared wavelengths .
Familiar with various programming packages to model the science of telecommunications such as Matlab, Python, and the like.
Desired ability to computational imaging from the Fourier domain to the image domain
