The Telecommunications Division delivers telecommunication infrastructure solutions to utilities, local and state government agencies and the commercial wireless industry. Through a unique combination of experience, expert resources and innovative solutions, Black & Veatch supports the entire range of both legacy and emerging technologies used in today’s wireless and wireline networks, voice, video, Internet and data systems and utility automation.
Functions as an Electrical technical specialist providing knowledge and expertise. Independently develops and applies advanced electrical engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems.
Position requires experience with 240/120; 208/120; 480/277 VAC and 12,470 VAC power distribution systems. Applications for interconnecting, Telecom, EV chargers, Green Energy Storage Devices, PV Solar and Generators.
Proactively provides guidance and direction on Electrical department design guides, expert level in understanding codes, service entrance coordination, interconnect issues, and net metering, expert NEC knowledge, good deductive reasoning skills and B&V policies. Assists in developing, maintaining and updating electrical engineering standards. Provides technical/electrical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines.
Independently applies electrical knowledge and complies with B&V quality program relative to assigned tasks. May be responsible for ensuring compliance with B&V quality program. Provides related guidance and direction to others. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Site visits/information gathering on electrical distribution systems; Utility and client coordination meetings; Conceptual power distribution functional diagram development; Switchgear, motor control centers, power transformers, automatic transfer switches, battery storage systems, etc. investigations and design.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or a Master Electrician license. 8 years related work experience is preferred.
Engineer In Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred, but not required. Technical expertise to include strong NEC/SKM (or equal) knowledge for procuring electrical designs, understanding codes, service entrance coordination, interconnect issues, and net metering.
Good problem solving abilities are required. Broad-based skills including client communications, contractor and supplier savvy.
