*Primary Responsibilities*

HDR is looking to hire an experienced Electrical Engineering Section Manager to manage an electrical section for our East Region Design Center in Charlotte, NC. This person will be responsible for providing electrical expertise and mentoring as well as be responsible for the production of facilities-related electrical systems design for a variety of markets including Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, and Federal.



They will beresponsible for the operation of a production group including staff development, workflow and forecasting, scheduling, profitability, morale, and quality control, and will function as a technical lead on projects in addition to staff management responsibilities. They will be administratively responsible for the group and technical service functions and will lead and coordinate services with other disciplines. They will be directly involved with clients in project production and related issues, and will implement, monitor and support company policy. They will also be expected to select, train, develop and manage technical personnel.



They will be expected to execute design, coordinating and working closely with multidiscipline design teams throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration. They will be responsible for the development of drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, as well as the review of shop drawings during construction. Experience in the design of building-related electrical systems such as lighting and controls, power systems (normal and emergency), and low voltage systems (telecommunications, fire alarm, security) is required. This individual should be self-motivated and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound electrical designs.




Required Qualifications

BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis required.

PE required.

Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm required.

A minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/ systems) required.

Must have the ability to manage, lead and mentor other team members.

Extensive knowledge of building electrical power and lighting design a must.

Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

A minimum of 1 year of experience managing staff is preferred.

Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and Revit, and electrical design software desired.

Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required.

Local candidates are preferred.
