Job Title:Electrical Engineering Manager


L3 KEO is searching for an Electrical Engineering Professional with 15 years of experience in a leadership role to manage and direct the day to day activities of the Electrical Engineering Group. In this role, you will provide technical direction and oversight to your team and cross-functionally.

L3 KEO employs a full spectrum of engineering and manufacturing disciplines to design a variety of sensor and weapon systems for submarines, surface ships, combat vehicles, and other defense platforms.
With facilities in Massachusetts in the U.S. as well as Milan, Florence and Bologna, Italy, L3 KEO is an experienced developer of integrated and stabilized, high-performance optronic sensor, antenna, masts and weapon control systems for defense applications. L3 KEO has the capability to accept any electro-optical or motion control challenge and then design to it, build it, test it, and stand behind it. Tasks to be Accomplished

* Technically responsible for the overall electrical design integrity of all products designed at L3 KEO

* Provide leadership, mentoring and support to the extended L3 KEO Electrical Engineering team

* Manage Electrical Engineering personnel including performance reviews and training needs

* Manage and balance the Electrical Engineering resource load to meet project demand

* Monitor electrical design engineering demand via the engineering manpower database and provide recommendations for new hires to meet expanding demand

* Source and develop external electrical design resources which can be utilized on demand to meet fluctuating resource requirements

* Develop and maintain the electrical engineering design practices, processes and standards

* Participate in all technical design reviews to ensure electrical design integrity is achieved

* Responsible for the selection and management of electrical engineering tools to maximize efficiency of the product development process

* Estimate the cost and schedule of assigned work packages and validate the electrical design work packages estimated by other software and electrical designers

* Provide electrical technical support to other areas of the organization including manufacturing engineering, bids and proposals, and programs

* Contribute to the conceptual design, detailed design and validation of electrical sub-systems and components as an individual or as a team leader in conjunction with product design activities

* Keep in synchronization with electrical industry trends and new technologies that may be relevant to L3 KEO's present and future product development



At least 15 years of experience in the following:

* Design and implementation of complex, high speed digital systems using microprocessors and FPGAs

* Design and implementation of analog and digital video systems using the relevant standards

* Design and implementation of DC-servo motor drives and DC-switching power supplies

* Design and implementation of appropriate shielding, bonding, grounding and impedance matching

* VHDL design for synthesis

* PCB design according to IPC standards

* Debug and testing of complex designs using Oscilloscopes, TDR and logic analyzers

* Design according to MIL/Aerospace standards including MIL-461, MIL-704 and RTC-DO160

* Schematic capture tools including Mentor Graphics DX Designer

* Circuit Simulation tools including Spice and Allegro SI

* Layout design tools including Allegro and PADS

* Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a US Secret Clearance
At least 5 years of experience in the following:

* Management of an Engineering design team

* Balancing and loading resources
Experience & Education Requirements

* Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering a minimum, Masters preferred

* Minimum of 15 years experience in Electrical Engineering design

* Minimum of 5 years experience in Engineering team management

* Environment/Equipment Used/:/ *

* Works in a typical office environment with exposure to light manufacturing area and laboratory environment

* Occasional domestic and international travel environments 10%

* Software used: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook E-mail

* The use of safety equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas
