Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) is a Nazarene teaching university located in the Wesleyan-Holiness theological tradition for traditional age students, graduate students, and working adults who seek opportunities to learn and grow in an academic community of faith. Mount Vernon Nazarene University has an increasingly diverse and global student body of over 2,100 undergraduate and graduate students and provides the context for a transformational experience through excellent academics, service opportunities, caring relationships, and a nurturing spiritual and social environment. Faculty, staff, and students are challenged to achieve their highest potential, to become increasingly Christ-like and to make a difference in their world through lifelong service.

The University is seeking a full-time (nine-month) Electrical Engineering Faculty Member, beginning in the Fall semester of 2017. Rank is open. Compensation is competitive among the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Teaching a broad range of undergraduate engineering courses required for the Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree program. Teaching assignments are expected to be in courses related to general engineering with a concentration in electrical engineering. Teaching of other related courses may be required;
  • Advising of students majoring in Engineering and ensuring that their academic progress meets requirements set by the institution, working with students to encourage professional development, and working with upper level students on their senior capstone design projects;
  • Supporting departmental efforts for continued improvement of programs;
  • Serving the University through committee participation.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Interview preference will be given to candidates who possess the following:

  • Strong presentation skills, and commitment to quality classroom instruction and student learning;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and proven ability to work collaboratively with others.

In a continuing effort to enrich its academic environment and provide equal educational and employment opportunities, the university actively encourages applications from members of all ethnic groups underrepresented in higher education.
