Metron, Inc is a Scientific Consulting company that has been working with the US Navy and DoD contracts for over 30 years.  Our CETUS division ( is seeking a talented and enthusiastic electrical engineer with large-scale vehicle power systems experience for marine-related R&D projects. At Metron, we value innovative research experience, inquisitiveness, and insight.


In this position, you will work on the design, development, management, testing, and deployment of marine electrical systems for underwater vehicles, as well as improve upon current systems.  It will be required to provide on-site hands-on support during integration and vehicle testing, have an understanding of all engineering discipline drawings and electrical discipline wiring diagrams, control logic diagrams, system descriptions, and system calculations.  Pure signal processors need not apply, please; though there may be a small signal processing component (mainly noise reduction) at times.


  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field is required
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with electric motors, various battery configurations / charging circuits / load testing, high voltage DC power systems with complex loads
  • Experience controlling various electric motors (BLDC, Stepper, etc.)
  • Experience integrating and testing with various battery chemistries (LiPo, Lead-Acid, etc.)
  • Experience designing and working with high voltage (300V DC and up) power supplies
  • Experience with analog circuit design and testing
  • Experience integrating various analog sensors   
  • Experience in microcontroller and other embedded systems
  • Experience writing embedded code or working with embedded programmers
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Some travel will be required (10-15%)
  • US Citizenship required
  • Active DoD secret clearance highly desirable
