Lockheed Martin is seeking a Lead Electrical Component / Obsolescence Engineer for a position in Grand Prairie, TX, Sunnyvale, CA or Huntsville, AL who will be responsible for overseeing and executing program tasks within the component engineering (CE) field. These tasks consist of, but are not limited to:
(1) Assess and assign tasks/issues relating to component specification development, specification release, testing, and qualification to team members as needed
(2) Provide support to process reviews meetings
(3) Provide direction in the selection of components
(4) Lead discussions and drive to closure issues related to component issues, such as testing failures; pure tin, copper bond wires, and counterfeit parts
(5) Provide an environment where Component Engineering is an integral part of the engineering process

Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for executing tasks to successfully manage the problem of component obsolescence. These tasks consist of, but are not limited to:
1) Assess and assign tasks/issues relating to obsolescence management to team members as needed
2) Work closely with designers such that they understand the effect that their design decisions have on the system under development
3) Provide an environment where obsolescence management is an integral part of the engineering process
4) Oversee detailed part level obsolescence studies including generating Scientific and Technical Reports for Obsolescence Mitigation and Management Plan, Parts, Materials, and Processes (PMP) Risk Mitigation Strategy, Plastic Microcircuit Listing, formation of Parts Management Plans and delivering Source Data for Forecasting Program Results for customer obsolescence review

As the CE lead, there are non-technical tasks to be accomplished as well. These tasks include:
1) Responsible for generating proposals for the Component/Obsolescence Area and participate in negotiations as needed.
2) Responsible for generating new term and long-term manpower planning. Review Manpower requirements and communicate manpower requirements with Functional Leadership.

Basic Qualifications
- Must have or must be able to obtain a security clearance

- Candidate must have a Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline or equivalent experience/combined education, with 14 years or more of professional experience; or 12 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered an expert, authority in discipline

- Must be proficient with computer tools such as MS Office products

- Candidate should have experience in electrical component manufacturing process and physical property analysis

- This position requires periodic travel to both the customer and supplier locations

Desired skills
Candidate should have a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Material Science Engineering

Candidate should have a working knowledge of the following areas:
- Gold embrittlement
- Decapsulation
- Dye-Penetrant
- PIND Testing
- Bond wire Pulls

Candidate should be a self-starter requiring minimal supervision and capable of handling several tasks at once and interface with Government Customer (in meetings and through presentations), manufacturers, and test houses

Candidate will be responsible for Presentation preparation and leading of Team/Customer meetings.

Candidate must be able to interface with other LM stakeholders and Government customers.

Extensive experience in Components Engineering with broad knowledge of electronic components and devices

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with managers, internal and external customers, peers, subordinates and the ability to work in a team oriented product development organization

Should be comfortable working in a team environment and willing to mentor early career Components Engineers
