Job Details

This acoustics engineer will work as part of an engineering team to analyze and develop piezoelectric sensors & arrays, to be used in sonar systems and other military applications. This includes research and development on transducer assemblies, and transitioning the piezoelectric ceramic sensors into production

The candidate must be able to work independently and lead small teams. Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

Some travel would be expected to other Lockheed Martin locations, vendor sites, and government facilities

Basic Qualifications
Strong physics and/or acoustics background with extensive experience in underwater acoustics engineering applications
Strong problem solving skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Familiarity with MS Office Suite
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance

Desired skills
The ideal candidate will have an interest in acoustic hardware development with a strong background in both physics and acoustics. Some coursework in electrical engineering is preferred as well

Experience in using MATLAB or equivalent multi-paradigm numerical
computing environment

Experience in Microsoft Excel

Familiarity with COMSOL Multiphysics software, ANSYS Computer-aided engineering software, and LabVIEW system-design platform and development environment

Familiarization with beamforming as it relates to sonar array designs and principles of underwater sound as it relates to sonar equations
