POSITION SUMMARY

The primary focus of this position is to prepare electrical engineering designs, specifications, standards, studies, cost estimates and sound technical recommendations, in support of Pulsed Electromagenetic Field Therapy projects and tasks. Applies a high level of technical expertise to solve design, developmental and operational problems. Coordinates and directs projects and tasks, including development of work scope, budget, and schedule.  Directs and assists team members, both Company employees and outside contractors, in the completion of their work.  Coordinates input from, and participation with, various departments within the Company as needed to meet project objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluate circuit specifications, designs and PCB layout to complete a circuit performance and reliability analysis.

Design and implement analog RF-feed circuits (amplifier, modulation, and impedance matching) combined with digital control circuits (micro-controller, FPGA and CPLD) for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy applicators. Collaborate with team members to integrate circuits into fully released products.

Ability to produce simple mechanical designs and drawings using AutoCAD +Electrical.

Test, tune, debug and optimize prototype circuits and components to meet specification requirements and manufacturing producibility requirements.

Ability to collaborate with other members of the team to create Electromagnetic simulator models of RF-feed circuits and predict Electromagnetic field therapy.

Perform and coordinate production engineering support functions such as fixture development, materials selection, design, evaluation and solution for process problems.

Stay abreast of the latest changes, trends and technological advancements in the industry through attendance at conferences, seminars, continuing education, literature, etc.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

 

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), including electromagnetism courses and labs

 

Minimum of 3 years of experience in Antenna and Array Design and Analysis in HF/VHF range

 

Minimum of 3 years of experience in electromagnetic modeling including experience in ANSYS HFSS or other 3D simulation tools

 

Experienced with RF test equipment such as signal generators, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes

 

Familiarity, educational experience, or on the job experience with:

  • RF circuit theory, application, and testing procedures

  • RF design & integration experience, including in-lab debug experience
  • Reading and understanding schematic diagrams

  • Analog circuit design simulator software (PSPICE, LTSPICE)
  • RF simulation software tools (NI AWR, ANYSS HFSS, or similar)
  • Investigating EMI/EMC issues, identify solutions and report findings effectively
  • Experience in developing RF transmit chain

Must be able to apply engineering/technical principles to analyze and solve problems

Must clearly and concisely communicate technical information and concepts with various levels of management in both formal and informal settings

Must be able to prepare written communications on technical and non-technical matters for various levels of management

Proficient with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiar with medical device development environment
  • RF power amplifier design experience or solid understanding of  (Class C, D, E, F)
  • Matching / Tuning circuit design experience for RF power amplifiers and antennas
  • Grasp of Electromagnetic interference (EMI) theory
  • RF circuit prototyping experience
  • Working knowledge of the Cadence applications – OrCAD, PSpice and Capture CIS - PCB Designer desired development of circuit simulations, part models and parts library management
  • Ability to write, compile and debug FPGA code a plus (Verilog, VHDL).

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS


Must be able to operate personal computer and printer

Ability to work on a computer up to 8+ hours a day

Regularly required to sit for long periods of time, with the ability to move around within the office and lab work area as needed

Adequate vision required for equipment and computer use and reading
