Job Details

Contributes electrical design and development expertise as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers focused on developing cutting edge technology in an innovative and fast paced environment. As an EE designs, develops, modifies and evaluates electronic assemblies, components, and circuit boards for ESI's electronic equipment and systems by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·   Design analog and mixed signal circuit boards

·   Prepare or direct preparation of system interconnect drawings and schematics

·   Work with a cross functional team to determine design requirements and parameters

·   Analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results

·   Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability

·   Analyze data to determine feasibility of a product proposal

·   Direct and coordinate manufacturing or building of prototype product or system

·   Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications

·   Complete complex tasks on schedule with minimal supervision while delivering quality output

·   Use computer assisted engineering and design software to develop, simulate, and test electronic designs

·   Work collaboratively with all organizational functions

·   Consult with customers and field service personnel concerning field issues of performance and reliability

·   Other duties may be assigned

 

Education and Experience

·   Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent

·   5+ years of related industry experience

 

Required Skills and Abilities

·   Knowledge of low level current and voltage measurements

·   Strong analog and mixed signal board level design skills

·   System level design, integration, and testing experience

·   Lab equipment experience (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.)

·   Knowledge of EMI/EMC design requirements and testing

·   Strong problem solving skills and accountability to drive issues to closure

·   Ability to succeed in a fast paced, technically challenging, and multi-disciplinary team environment 

·   Strong interpersonal and communication skills

·   Ability to travel internationally in support of ESI system installations and applications. Requires appropriate work authorization to freely enter and exit primarily Asia Pacific countries. Primary consideration will be given to US Citizens and US Green Card Holders. Travel expected up to 10%.

 

Preferred Skills and Abilities

·   Experience in test and measurement applications

·   FPGA firmware, Microcontroller, and DSP design experience

·   Experience with lasers, electro-optical components, and laser measurement equipment (power meters, probes, beam profilers, pulse detectors, photo detectors, PSDs, interferometers, AODs, etc.)

·   Experience developing and working around high voltage systems and associated safety requirements

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occassionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of radiation and electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
