Job Details

Murraysmith is searching for a licensed Electrical Engineer to work with our growing pump station and facilities group in the Pacific Northwest. The successful candidate will be located in one of our eight office locations in Oregon, Washington or Idaho and will have experience in electrical, instrumentation and controls (EI&C) designs for municipal and industrial water and wastewater pump stations and treatment facilities.

The Opportunity

An Electrical Engineer at Murraysmith will be an integral part of our EI&C.  The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and will be a licensed electrical engineer in Oregon, Washington or Idaho with ability to obtain reciprocity in all three states.

Requisite knowledge for the position includes the design of low and medium voltage power distribution systems including electrical switchgear, motor control centers, standby generator and related. Instrumentation and Controls design includes developing Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and control strategies. Experience using computer aided electrical analysis applications such as SKM, and construction field experience are also desired.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-discipline delivery team, leading the electrical, instrumentation and controls design of water and wastewater pump stations and treatment facilities;
  • Successfully manage and execute EI&C designs to be on time and budget using company systems and tools;
  • Produce effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums;
  • Scope and budget projects, identify method of project execution and coordinate staff assignments;
  • Support business development opportunities and assist in sales and marketing efforts (proposal preparation, interviewing, scope, fee, etc.); and
  • Perform contractor construction submittal reviews and request for information documents and general electrical design activities for plant and pump station power systems.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from an accredited university;
  • Professional licensure in OR, WA or ID with ability to obtain reciprocity in all three states within 6 months;
  • Five to 10 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer with experience designing mechanical facilities such as municipal or industrial water and wastewater pumping and treatment facilities; and
  • Extensive knowledge of NEC and NFPA.
