Job Summary

 

Through the application of electrical engineering, create and innovate new products and solutions which meet consumer needs and compliment the Company’s brand as a market leader. Serve as a key technical resource across technical projects.

 

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Develop a pipeline of industry leading product innovations and technologies which align with the Company’s strategic objectives, meets unmet consumer needs, and allows for a competitive advantage over competitors; conceptualize, design, and test new product concepts and technologies.
  • Drive product development and R&D initiatives through cross functional and resourceful project management; ensure the appropriate level of technical due diligence and engineering is applied.
  • Track and prioritize product innovation schedules; resolve critical technical issues in a timely fashion.
  • Recommend, implement and practice comprehensive engineering processes and protocols, specifications and tests, documentation and communications that meet product criteria, design intent and performance requirements.
  • Design, maintain, implement, or improve electrical or electronic components, products, or systems.
  • Perform a wide range of engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment.
  • Confer with customers, engineers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering products or projects.
  • Ensure that scoping, design and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical or electronic systems specifications or technical drawings.
  • Establish design, manufacturing or operating standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating design, manufacturing, documentation, support or testing activities.
  • Write reports, analyze and compile data regarding existing and potential electrical or electronic engineering projects and studies; prepare specifications for purchases of electrical or electronic equipment and materials.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners; ensure requirements to produce products are satisfied.
  • Estimate material, labor, or build costs for budget preparation.
  • Consult with suppliers for timely and accurate prototype development; review samples for compliance; facilitate necessary modifications on a timely basis.
  • Coordinate engineering projects across domestic and international teams, effectively communicating requirements and request to team members, suppliers, and external R&D resources.
  • Complete and make available accurate drawings for suppliers; work closely with supplier teams to ensure materials and manufacturability support expectations.
  • Engineer products for consumer safety; eliminate or minimize product liability risk; use every available tool, resource, technology, and protocol to analyze solutions effectively.
  • Ensure products comply with regulatory requirements as well as other standards and certifications; maintain an up-to-date knowledge base on regulatory requirements and other testing standards as required by law or industry standard.
  • Continuously work to improve existing processes to enhance products and brand.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of new and trending technology, materials, and products which align with our product portfolio and brand.

Requirements

Qualification Requirements

 

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution of higher education.

Minimum Experience:

  • Five (5) years of progressive electrical engineering experience creating/innovating new consumer products.

Licensure/Certification(s):

  • None.

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Knowledge of various manufacturing methods which support manufacturability.
  • Knowledge of engineering concepts to include: DFMEAs, DFM, FEA, GD&T, DOE, and APQP.
  • Strong knowledge of common business and financial acumen within the Consumer Product Manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of technical research, design and testing protocols.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and third party certification requirements applicable to the category or electrical/electronic field.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to coordinate the work of others.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside-of-the-box for creative solutions.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to regularly demonstrate a passion and drive for innovation.
  • Ability to understand cost and identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Physical Requirements

 

Normal office environment with limited domestic and international travel required.
