Job Title:Electrical Engineer (Medical Device)


Volt is seeking an experienced, high caliber Senior Electrical Engineer to take a significant role in design, development and support efforts for the electrical components of the market-leading Mechanical Circulatory Support devices.


" Performs electronics design of medical devices
" Designs hardware to support features that are contained in the product definition
" Develops hardware design specifications and circuit designs and is responsible for selection of appropriate components and technologies
" Participates in and occasionally leads collaborative design teams
" Mentors and develops engineers and technicians
" Leads design reviews; documents and resolves issues
" Troubleshoots and debugs intermittent system level problems down to root causes with respect to circuit design, firmware, PCB and component failures
" Participates in and supports reviews held by other engineers on related projects and provides useful feedback
" Participates in and supports different test phase efforts
" Writes and updates requirement specifications for sub-systems
" Pursues opportunities for patents; contributes to patent applications as appropriate
" Supports all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and other regulatory requirements
" Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
" Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned

**Required Skills**

" Bachelor of Science in electrical/electronic engineering or related engineering field.
" A minimum of 5 years of relevant hardware design and development experience
" Demonstrated ability to develop new design features as part of existing systems, and new designs from initial concept
" Ability to understand and comply with applicable FDA regulations and Company operating procedures, processes, policies and tasks
" Advanced personal computer skills, including spreadsheet, word processing, database management, and specialized applications
" Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
" Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects
" Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
" Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines
" Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail
" Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally

**Qualifications & Education:**

**" Master/Doctorate degree in Engineering**

" Experience with basic electrical safety compliance, medical devices preferred (IEC/EN 60601-1)
" Experience with EMC including ESD, medical devices preferred (IEC/EN 60601-1-2)
" PCB layout skills (Altium preferred) with knowledge of latest manufacturing processes and limitations (IPC,SMTA)
" Training and experience in manufacturing processes and methods, especially in the manufacturing of medical devices and/or high-reliability devices

**" Automated test (LabVIEW preferred)**

" Knowledge of embedded software development, coding experience preferred
