Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor building the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, NASA’s first spacecraft designed for long-duration, human-rated deep space exploration. Orion will transport humans to interplanetary destinations beyond low Earth orbit, such as asteroids, the moon and eventually Mars, and return them safely back to Earth.

Space Systems Company seeks an Electrical Engineer to support Orion vehicle Avionics and European Space Module integration and testing in the Integrated Test Laboratory at Lockheed’s Wateron Facility

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for design, development, testing and engineering associated with the Orion Test Laboratory Facilities, Test Equipment, Systems and Subsystems. The primary Test Facilities are located in Denver Colorado, with satellite facilities located in Houston TX and at Kennedy Space Center, FL.

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for concepts and detail design of electrical systems and test equipment with a focus on design optimization and ease of manufacturing. Generates engineering designs and drawings per electrical industry standards and practices. Ensures completed drawings are clear, complete, and conform to standards, processes, specifications. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design.

This position will facilitate the release of engineering drawings including product structure development, change boards, and presenting at technical design and drawing reviews. Preliminary Design Review (PDR) preparation which includes requirements development, test plan derivation and manufacturing planning. Support development testing as needed. Support Procurement activities as needed

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology or other related technical degree programs with 5 years of job relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, candidates who have 13 years of directly relevant experience will also be considered
• Strong background in troubleshooting integrated systems
• Requirements based electrical hardware design experience
• Real-time and embedded systems integration experience
• Parts and Materials Selection experience for Military/Aerospace applications
• Zuken schematic capture software exposure
• Development of Detailed schedules, Functional Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and safety documents
• Development of Test Plans, Procedures, and Detailed Work Instructions
• Very Good technical writing and verbal communication skills
• Ability to present and communicate effectively to a broad technical community
• Ability to present and communicate effectively to a broad technical community
• Ability to work independently as well as a team setting
• Experience with Microsoft Office products including MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio
• Must be willing and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance

Desired skills
• Programming experience with NI Lab View and Lab Windows software for integrated systems

• Integration of automated test systems using COTS based VME/VXI/PXI/LXI/GPIB interfaces and equipment

• Cradle or Doors requirements management experience (or comparable application)

• Proficient with product lifecycle management software Wind chill 9.1

• Proficient in Zuken or comparable schematic capture software

• Experience with Orion or other NASA/DOD Space Programs

• Experience with international business partners
