The responsibilities of the position include providing design and engineering support for power, energy and infrastructure projects. Our ideal candidate will have experience with electrical system design, technical writing, and engineering studies and cost estimating, and be able to direct others. They should be a self-starter able to carry multiple projects from concept through construction. They must also be able to perform fieldwork, produce building layout and detailed design drawings, interpret specifications, incorporate manufacturer’s technical data, and review submittals.


+ Prepares electrical designs and perform calculations in support of water, environmental, advanced manufacturing, and energy brands. Projects include conceptual/feasibility report, detailed design drawing, and construction/contractor support.

+ Experience with medium/high voltage substation, campus distribution, and renewable energy resource design and implementation is preferred.

+ Lead electrical focused projects and lead electrical design tasks on large non-electrical projects.

+ Typical design tasks to include:o Industrial facility power distributiono Motor control and coordination with instrumentation/control engineerso Lighting, grounding, and lightning protection

+ Fire alarm and general facility electrical system design

+ Perform power system studies on industrial and utility systems, including grounding, lightning protection, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis

+ Periodically review the schedule and cost of the projects under his or her supervision

+ Performs detailed checking of completed work performed under his or her direct supervision

+ Participates actively in creating a safety culture on the site.

+ B.S. Electrical Engineering and 3+ years of relevant experience

+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate, both in written and verbal form, technical material to non-technical persons; including group presentations to clients

+ Strong computer skills including both Microsoft Office programs and AutoCAD programs

+ You must be familiar with the design and specification of new equipment including electrical distribution systems, motors, variable frequency drives, controls, lighting, electrical auxiliaries, etc.

+ Experience with new installations and rehabilitation of existing equipment is favorable.

+ Excellent oral, written communications and computer skills are necessary.

+ Excellent interpersonal skills are a must.
