Armstrong has an Electrical Engineering Internship opportunity at our Millwood, WV plant. Armstrong is looking for candidates that have the technical savvy to understand our products, processes, and test requirements. We want to hire highly motivated engineering interns with the necessary leadership requirements and qualifications to achieve greatness.

Armstrong World Industries, Inc. is a global leader in the design and manufacture of floors, ceilings, and cabinets. Armstrong Building Products (ABP) is a worldwide leader in manufacturing and marketing acoustical ceilings and suspension systems for commercial and residential applications. The business mix is nearly 90% commercial with the balance in residential markets, primarily home improvement and remodeling projects. ABP is the most geographically diverse business at Armstrong, supported by regional manufacturing and local sales organizations around the world.

Under the supervision and guidance of an experienced Engineer, work scope and projects will be focused on improvement of the manufacturing process that can be completed during the term of your internship and/or will contribute to a larger ongoing project. Focus will be on supporting Lean Project teams, improvement of production capabilities by adding or modifying equipment, creation of standard operating and maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting production problems. The work assigned will be integral to plant goals and objectives. Plant management will be supportive during the internship and interested in results achieved. This year in particular provides an excellent opportunity for you to be a part of a large expansion project at the plant, estimating costs, specifying equipment, supervising installation, and coordinating start-up plans. You will be responsible for summarizing the work scope and project, and your results to the leadership team at the plant at the end of your internship. Thorough Safety Training will be provided and required.

The requirements for this position include:

Experience:
* Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.

* Must have a minimum 3.2 GPA, cumulative and within major.

* Must be a maximum of 24 months away from graduation.

Skills and Abilities:
* Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the specific ability to work in teams

* Capability to build relationships with other functions, which will be essential with such activities as teaching teams and transferring knowledge

* Well-developed computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office with emphasis in Word, Excel, Power point, and AutoCAD or other computer-aided design software

* Ability to read, comprehend, and explain engineering drawings and technical documents

* Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work independently and make autonomous decisions when necessary

* Unlimited authorization to work in the United States

* Must be able to climb ladders and walk catwalks, etc., in order to monitor, direct, and validate equipment and installations
