Job Description:

3M Canada is seeking an Electrical Engineer or Electrical Engineering Technologist to join our manufacturing team in Perth, ON. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.

This is a Monday-Friday day shift opportunity, with the requirement of on-call after hours and weekend support.The successful candidate will provide daily support and engineering expertise and technical assistance for (1) the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of highly technical automated equipment, (2) development of maintenance procedures and techniques to support safe, reliable and efficient implementation of factory automation to include Robotics, Vision Systems, Integration Software, Motion and Control Systems.

This person will be expected be self-motivated and resourceful with a willingness to drive business results improvement. In this position it is critical to have good interpersonal and team skills necessary to perform effectively in a variety of cross functional team situations. Utilizing statistical techniques to monitor processes both for troubleshooting and improvement is essential.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

+ Supporting manufacturing operations in electrical controls, programming, software, and application support to automation, robotics, vision, motion control, PLC and SCADA systems

+ Identifying, recommending, and implementing ideas in manufacturing area of responsibility to improve:Product cost, service, and qualityProcess safety and health performance with reduction of overall risk to the factoryEnvironmental performance with emphasis on waste reductionEquipment reliability

+ Successful candidate will also lead and implement improvement projects mentioned above

Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university

+ Minimum 3 (three) years combined (academic or industry) electrical, controls, vision and/or automation experience

+ Minimum 1 (one) year project engineering experience within a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Experience in controls and automation systems design

+ Effective "Hands On" techniques

+ Ability to analyze, problem solve and implement solutions

+ Excellent computer skills - Excel, Minitab, PowerPoint and Project

+ Innovation skills to generate new ideas or alternative solutions

+ Works well on cross-functional teams in a continuous improvement (LEAN) environment

+ Excellent organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
