Job Details

The Ground & Flight Engineering Solutions (GFES) Program supports satellite assembly, integration & test (AI&T), satellite launch processing, ground systems electronics design & manufacturing and other launch support functions. The primary operating location is in Santa Maria, CA. Key elements of GFES activities include design/fabrication of EGSE (electronic ground support equipment), operations & maintenance and (O&M) of ground support equipment, facilities & satellite ground systems

The GFES Program is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support electronics GSE design, fabrication & test. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Lead design of ground support equipment used in satellite test and launch processing operations such as cables, wire harness, chassis, load boxes, consoles, break out boxes, and other related ground support equipment, etc.

• Develop/maintain resource loaded project schedules.

• Support electronics production by providing liaison engineering to the production team and provide technical assistance for assembly and test of GSE. Travel may be required.

• Provide technical review of test procedures, drawings, schedules and specifications

• Act as mentor to junior engineers performing electrical/electronic system design and test tasks. Drive development of the GFES organization's electrical GSE design expertise to create a knowledge base of methods, tools, best practices, and mission-specific skills

Basic Qualifications
• Experience with schematic capture to include board design, external interfaces, and transfer to layout tools

• Experience with SPICE for digital & analog circuit simulation

• Experience developing embedded software for microcontrollers, microprocessors, or embedded IP cores

• Experience debugging moderate to complex circuit assemblies

• Experience working in a diverse team setting where multiple engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, software) are involved

• Experience developing system requirements, design review presentations, and fabrication and test instructions

• Demonstrated self-starter with appetite for wide array of engineering design challenges

• Customer service orientation

• Must work well in a team environment

• Ability to work under minimal supervision, to self-initiate activities, and to work within project timelines

Desired skills
Experience designing GSE used to support satellite production

Experience programming in LabView or C/C++

Experience using ZUKEN E3 design tool is a plus

Experience using Automation Framework

Experience with project scheduling tools

TS/SCI security clearance
