Lockheed Martin is in search of an up-and-coming Dynamics / Vibration Test Engineer to join our environmental test labs at our Sand Lake Road campus in sunny Orlando, FL.
The engineer will work in an engineering test environment with cutting edge hardware & systems.
This Dynamics Test Engineer position reports to the Shaker Test Lead under the Structural and Environmental Labs Manager as part of the Mechanical Engineering Laboratories. Shaker Test is responsible for environmental test (vibration, shock, climatic) solutions to development and production hardware (component, subsystem, system levels) for all of the R & D and Production programs at the Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Orlando Facility.
The major focus of this exciting position will be on the operation and data collection from multiple vibration, mechanical shock, and thermal / vacuum / humidity test equipment to meet aerospace / military standard testing requirements, and is often required to engineer and execute unique test solutions to support non-standard test requirements.
The engineer will develop a mastery of operation and knowledge of the full capabilities of each item of the test equipment, as well as understanding signal processing and instrumentation used in the performance of all tests.
The engineer will have an opportunity to perform test planning and document reviews. The engineer will have the opportunity to manage daily work activities through our facilities, executing "hands on" testing daily to meet test schedules, and interfacing with Program Engineers to develop robust test programs and report results
Having the opportunity to attend various industry conferences and to keep up-to-date with new technologies and industry best practices relating to dynamics / shock / climactic testing will be an exciting part of this role. The engineer may have an opportunity to participate as a Lockheed Martin representative to an industry standards development organization (such as ASTM)

Orlando is home to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Florida, and SeaWorld. Orlando is also home to the second largest University in the US, the University of Central Florida (UCF). Where can you get to from Orlando? Orlando is about an hour's drive from Cocoa Beach and the "space coast" to include NASA and the Kennedy Space Center. Tampa is about 1.5 hours from Orlando. West Palm Beach is about 2.5 hours to the south and Jacksonville is about 2 hours to the northeast. Atlanta, GA is 6 hours to the northwest

Basic Qualifications
• BS degree Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related technical field
• 2 to 3 years of professional level experience
• Demonstrated interest and experience in hands-on testing / evaluation of hardware
• Ability to learn and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Must be comfortable in giving direction to technicians and other staff members
• Must have flexibility in personal schedule for opportunities to work overtime outside of standard lab hours
• The candidate must be capable of obtaining a DoD Secret clearance in a timely manner.
• Strong verbal & written communications skills
• Strong organization skills

Desired skills
• An MS level technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or closely related technical field may be desirable.
• A keen interest in building, testing, or taking apart, or destroying things is strongly desired.
• An interest in test and vibration analysis is desired.
• Experience as a hardware test engineer in the aerospace industry in an environmental test laboratory or equivalent would be a plus
• Demonstrated technical skills in mechanics, vibration control; structural dynamics of aerospace products using electrodynamic shakers, shock testing machines, accelerometers, and vibration control software is desired
• Demonstrated ability in signal processing programming using MatLab, LabVIEW, or another equivalent software tool
• Demonstrated technical skills in climatics testing using temperature chambers with programmable PID controllers
• Working knowledge of testing methods used in MIL STD – 810 C through G.
• Current DoD secret clearance is desired
