Description: The Director of Engineering has full responsibility and oversight of multi-site, multi-disciplined engineering teams. Winchester’s go-to-market strategy centers around its technical capabilities, the Director of Engineering must have a business development focus and be able to mentor the team in this direction.  It is the responsibility of the Director of Engineering to deliver product designs on-time at cost, quality and manufacturability requirements and to ensure the right engineering capabilities are in place to support current and future products.  This position is part of the division’s senior management team.

Initially, the role is to build an effective multi-site, multi-disciplined engineering organization. 

Location: Open. 


  • Lead multi-site, multi-disciplined engineering team and technical business development efforts at a $60M revenue division.

  • Manage engineering teams on the design of new connectors and cable assemblies to meet the customer’s signal integrity requirements.

  • Manage technical business development efforts by providing input to customers on the design of new connectors and cable assemblies to meet the customer’s requirements.

  • Manage customer technical relationships and liaise with manufacturing and customers to recommend cost reductions where possible.

  • Supports growth and improvement targets of the division by driving continuous improvement, common processes and the company values.  

  • Support sales and marketing efforts to develop new accounts, products and services.

  • Leads review and/or development and implementation of operational processes to meet the needs of the business; with common KPIs and daily/weekly/monthly visibility throughout the department.

  • Develops and manages the division’s technical / product roadmap.

  • Department responsible for modeling, simulation and verification of electrical performance of connectors, cable assemblies and the entire interconnect path.

  • Develops and achieves budget, in conjunction with the management team.

  • Commitment to Winchester’s values of entrepreneurship, collaboration and accountability.

  • Travel as required.

  • Other responsibilities as they may be assigned.


Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering required or the equivalent years of experience, MS degree preferred.

  • Minimum 7 years of engineering management experience.

  • A minimum of 4 years design engineer experience, with knowledge of technical standards: AS9100, ISO 13485, ISO 4001, RoHS, ISO 9001.

  • Prior multi-site, multi-disciplined engineering leadership experience, preferably from within the same industry.

  • Must be an effective mentor and experienced engineering leader with a collaborative team-oriented personality.

  • Analytical thinker with demonstrated technical ability to perform root cause analysis, prepare and implement action plans, lead improvement initiatives and interface with customer’s technical resources.

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with an acute ability to listen attentively and to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively produce a high quality of work and to initiate the completion of multiple tasks not specifically directed in a fast-paced, ever-changing and evolving work environment.

  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.

  • Proven experience in external relationship management (customers).

  • Strong financial acumen.
