Doble Engineering Company seeks Diagnostic Analysis Research Engineer in Watertown, MA – Perform research focused on expanding diagnostic applications of Doble's existing diagnostic test instruments and software, and develop a body of knowledge for new, emerging diagnostic technologies leading to new instruments and software. Work with supervisor on exploring new opportunities/functions for existing products, participating in the development of product requirement specifications and guiding the engineering R&D team in developing/implementing new diagnostic technologies. Conduct research experiments on insulating materials, e.g., insulating fluids, paper and pressboard by using the Dielectric Frequency Response (DFR) method to study their dielectric response when applying an electric field, as well as the influence of aging byproducts including low molecular weight carboxylic acids. Correlate moisture diagnostic techniques used for the assessment of the insulation condition in power apparatus by performing both field and laboratory testing. Develop mathematical algorithms to implement diagnostic analysis based on both theoretical and experimental research for standalone products and server/web based applications. Participate in corporate efforts to advance and deepen Doble's engineering staff's knowledge of power apparatus diagnostic by providing training, and preparing manuals and technical reports. Publish and present papers in conference proceedings and journals related to power apparatus diagnostic to show to the scientific/technical community the state of the art of these applications. Participate in technical committees, working groups and task forces relevant at worldwide power apparatus diagnostic industry with respect to the development and revision of their standards, guides and regulations.   

Require: PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or related field plus 1 year of experience in a related Electrical Engineering position. Must have any experience and/or course work with Electromagnetic theory; Optimization techniques applied to power systems; Developing mathematical algorithms in power systems applications; Matlab programming language; Developing laboratory manuals; Technical research papers (writing & editing). **Employer accepts experience gained during graduate studies.  

Domestic and international travel required 25% of time.
