Overview


As a software engineer focusing on devops at MITRE, you will provide systems engineering support to a variety of programs related to law enforcement, national intelligence, and government information systems. You will work on some of the most challenging technical and programmatic issues facing our federal sponsor located in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

Key Functions



  • Works with the project team in a dynamic environment to develop and deploy state-of-the-art media processing tools to support federal law enforcement investigations.


  • Applies expertise in IT infrastructure and cloud computing to facilitate the integration, delivery, and deployment of deliverables.


  • Executes on individual tasking which contributes to the success of larger systems in an environment that encourages autonomy.


  • Effectively communicates ideas, findings, and progress both verbal and written - to internal stakeholders, government sponsors, and trusted partners.

Required Qualifications


This position requires a rich understanding of IT architecture and modern software development concepts, tools, and practices. Specifically, applicants must demonstrate proficiency or a fundamental understanding with each of the following:


  • Continuous integration and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, Travis)


  • Containers (e.g., Docker)


  • Virtualization platforms, software, and image formats (e.g., VMWare, vCenter, VirtualBox)


  • Cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure)


  • Scripting languages and infrastructure automation languages (e.g., Python, Puppet, Ansible)


  • Git

Preferred Qualifications


Exposure and expertise in the following areas is preferred but not required.


  • Testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium, SoapUI)


  • Consuming and designing web services and APIs


  • Image processing and computer vision tools (e.g., ffmpeg, OpenCV)
