Job Description





The intern will develop a substation and transmission line component thermal calculation program. The program will facilitate the development of facility ratings sheets and support a NYPA classification as "best-in-class" for future NERC/NPCC standard audits.



+ Learn to apply the applicable IEEE standards for preferred ratings.


+ Learn to make use of Excel to develop a program to determine the ratings.


+ Learn to apply the electrical principles related to power system studies.


+ Learn substation and transmission line design principles.







Required Skills






+ Knowledge of Excel and Word; coursework background involving familiarity with electrical system and heat transfer theory.


+ Patience, curiosity and a desire to understand and research fundamental theories involving all areas of engineering














Required Experience





Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. Electrical Engineering majors highly preferred.
