**Job Description / Information**
Electrical Sr. Staff engineer position on an R&D team responsible for all hardware and software aspects of new product development projects. Specifically, this includes leading the design, development, testing, and refinement of electrical systems and sub-systems for medical devices. Technical leadership on projects and mentorship of less experienced engineers is a core component of this role. As a cross functional team member, this role will provide opportunities to work closely with a diverse group of engineers and technical staff across multiple knowledge domains. In addition, this role also provides opportunity to develop strategy for building strong intellectual property for Stryker’s product portfolio.
+ Strong applied knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, theories and methods with levels of depth and expertise in one or more areas.
+ Works closely with experienced technical staff to promote mentorship and development opportunities as well as provide mentorship to less experienced staff and cross functional peers.
+ Provides electrical engineering support for new product development projects including technical expertise, risk assessments, task scheduling/forecasting, and systems engineering analysis.
+ Works in a cross functional team to manage the development of architectural decisions, feature implementation, and costs analysis of product design.
+ Contributes to the development of system level requirements and sub-system specifications for electrical system development and traceability for verification and validation activities.
+ Participates in system and sub-system development through circuit design, simulation, analysis, and troubleshooting.
+ Leads the integration of technologies for product specific applications.
+ Works closely with test engineering, approvals engineering and quality teams to develop and execute product test plans.
+ Leads and facilitates design reviews, failure methods analysis, best practices sessions, and lessons learned activities.
+ Adheres to Stryker processes for product life cycle management and makes recommendations on process refinement and development.
+ Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.
+ Has appreciable latitude for unreviewed action or decision.
+ Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or related requiredMinimum 6 Years of applicable experience required
+ Knowledge of product development in a regulated industry preferred
+ Strong fundamental knowledge of analog and digital circuit design required.
+ Expertise in schematic capture and layout environments such as Orcad and mentor graphics is required.
+ Knowledge of circuit simulation environments such as LTspice/Pspice, Labview, or Matlab is required.
+ Strong customer service approach with the ability to translate abstract problems or situations into tangible plans and action.
• Job demands include prolonged sitting, may need to stoop, bend and stand as appropriate.
• Requires coordination of hands and/or eye/hand/foot.
• Meets cognitive demands to include visual discrimination/memory, auditory discrimination/memory reading ability, independent decision making and retention of specific knowledge.
• Requires use of safety glasses in designated areas.
