This dynamic technical engineering position supports the Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) Program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting cyber execution duties of the program located in Boulder CO. The candidate will tier directly to the LM SSC Security Engineering Team Manager. This Capability Team will provide technical leadership support to the candidate by ensuring SBIRS Prime contractor program management is elated with performance execution and delivery of mission success milestones.

The candidate will assess and mitigate system security threats/risks throughout the program life cycle; validate system security requirements definition and analysis; establish system security designs; implement security designs in hardware, software, data, and procedures to satisfy security requirements; and support secure systems operations and maintenance across the SBIRS portfolio. The Info Assurance Engineer will interface with Government counter-parts, as well as the subcontractor team members. The candidate will establish direction, provide alignment with program objectives, and meet multiple program commitments with a team of engineers across multiple segments (projects) and disciplines.

The Candidate will ensure compliance to governing documents and security policies and assist in regulatory periodic assessments. Implements and tests state-of-the-art secure operating systems, networks, and database solutions. Stays current with system vulnerabilities and provides current security guidance to all system users. Conducts risk assessments and provides recommendations for secure implementation and compliance in accordance with government regulations and information assurance/cybersecurity guidelines. Creates, maintains and submits information system security documents and reports to regulatory agencies. Assists with the implementation of security procedures; verifies information system security requirements; performs information system certification and accreditation planning, testing, assessing and liaison activities. Familiar with information system security architectural documentation standards. Able to apply information assurance / cyber security standards, directives, guidance and policies to an architectural/risk based framework. Provide architectural / risk based analysis of information assurance / cyber security features and relate existing system to future needs and trends and requirements

The candidate will also work with SSC leadership to develop new work and business opportunities related to Cyber. Responsibilities include ensuring technical and schedule objectives are met. The Engineer will also interface with the Program Manager, Engineering Program Manager (EPM), Chief Engineer (CE), and Information Assurance (IA) Lead under the direction of the Enterprise and Cyber Architects

The selected candidate will focus on interpreting guidance for team members to meet critical schedules and resolve critical/complex technical or operational problems while improving cybersecurity practices

Basic Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Experience working in a complex system integration environment
- Familiarity with Air Force Space Programs
- Cybersecurity professional with 8570.1 experience
- DIACAP and/or RMF experience
- Demonstrated experience performing system security engineering activities in support of software and system requirements, design, development, testing and sustainment
- Ability to provide guidance on DoD Cyber/IA regulations and requirements to engineering staff

Desired skills
- Ability to interact effectively with customers and senior program management
- Experience working with the Air Force SMC Customer
- Familiarity with SBIRS Network Architecture
- Experience with creation of Development and Operations products
- Demonstrated experience in managing an engineering skill set to achieve functional and programmatic requirements and goals
- CISSP, GSLC, or CISM certified
- Ability to work in an environment with evolving requirements and dynamic schedules
- Demonstrated experience with risk and vulnerability assessments and mitigation
- Experience with Secure Configuration/Hardening of DoD Information Systems.
- Experience with system audit configuration, capture, analysis, and reduction.
- Experienced and knowledgeable in the latest industry trends and developments in enterprise IA solutions.
- Understanding of Air Force and government Space Operations and sustainment
