Chief Engineer for a Navy 15 staff-year cyber security project, spanning six tasks. In collaboration with the MITRE Project Lead, this position will employ a shared-leadership model to ensure that the projects desired outcomes are met with the understanding this project has high sponsor and corporate visibility.  The Project Chief Engineer will oversee the projects S&T strategy, designs, and implementation. Additionally, the team will employ agile systems engineering processes & principles to effect delivery of operational capabilities to the Naval Fleet within the next 12-18 months.


Key Functions:

  • Strategically shape the work program over the next five years

  • Influence: concept development, requirements solicitation, architecture & design, development, integration, testing, fielding, operations & sustainment. 

  • Prioritize engineering efforts by assessing cybersecurity risk to mission for military systems, enterprise IT, and industrial control systems.  

  • Collaborate with 6 direct reports on the Navy Cyber Project (one for each task); Advise operational users, acquisition/engineering professionals & resource sponsors on a regular, routine basis

  • Collaborate with other contractors supporting the research sponsor to influence their activities and achieve unity of effort. 

  • Manage relationships and split time between MITRE and the sponsor site

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar field, 10 years of related experience including 2 years of leadership experience.

  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate a willingness to be responsible for work and/or customer relationship development and will act according to-and guides others toward-the proper balance of a) product depth with timeliness and b) technical improvements with programmatic constraints, even when hard compromises are required.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI level clearance.
