Cyber Security Analyst I - Generation (R17-532)


This position will provide analytical Security information and event management (SIEM) for the operation and cyber security of power generation Industrial Control System (ICS) networks. This position will be a key member of PGE’s Generation Compliance & Cyber Security Team (CCST). The work will ensure generation cyber security solutions to complex SIEM and Integrated Security Operations Center (ISOC) assignments maintain and improve the ICS cyber security for: all PGE requirements, applicable NIST, and NERC CIP regulatory requirements.




You will support our journey by:




  • Provide generation plant control system collaboration with Information Security Operations Center (ISOC) personnel to insure the ISOC has seamless generation asset monitoring capabilities in the ISOC’s central location

  • Provide day-to-day technical oversight of assigned shift

  • Coordinate issues with PSES and generation plant technical staff

  • Basic experience with the following: vulnerability scanning, firewall, penetration testing, Incident Response, Incident Handling and reporting to all levels of management.

  • Basic experience with SIEM tools to assist with installation and configuration

  • Some experience with: SIEM Vulnerability Assessments, CIP Compliance, Network engineering, NIST, COBIT, ISO 27000 series.

  • Provide experienced-based knowledge and serve as first point of escalation for security related events/issues.

  • Interface and maintain effective communication with IT & Transmission members of the supported environment

  • Technical Troubleshooting. Investigate ICS system processes, maintenance, and operational problems and initiate corrective action.

  • Response to Tier 1 problem / incident reports.




You will bring the following skills to our team:


  • Continuous Education. Maintain technical certifications and knowledge of all current techniques, applicable standards and regulations

  • Basic experience with Windows, UNIX, and Linux operating systems.

  • Basic experience and knowledge of hardening systems.

  • Basic knowledge:

    • Of network communications systems and equipment.

    • In at least one common scripting language (i.e. Python, Perl, VBS).

    • Of risk management principles.

  • 0-2 year’s operational experience with securing and monitoring multiple platform and network configurations and implementations.

  • Bachelor degree in Computer, Science, Electrical Engineering, or other engineering discipline is required

  • Basic knowledge:

    • ICS Security and general systems infrastructure experience to include basic experience with the following:

      • log correlation tools

      • packet analysis tools

      • various security management tools (Vulnerability Management, Configuration Management, SIEM, etc.
