We are seeking a highly motivated, technical expert who is adaptable to challenging environments and understands the unique challenges of the U.S. Army. This position is for a multi-discipline engineer who will engage in efforts that include network design, capabilities integration, technology evaluations and recommendations to senior leaders. This position involves working with Army senior leaders, authoring information papers, developing prototypes, and making recommendations that will impact Soldiers and civilians supporting the Army worldwide networks. This project supports efforts that include high-level working groups discussing future technologies as well as hands-on configuration and administration of advanced network systems. This work requires candidates to contribute to, and lead, teams consisting of military, civilians, and contractors.












Minimum Qualifications:



Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar field, and 3 years of experience. 


 


Required Qualifications:


  • A working knowledge of networking and relevant protocols for both wired wireless networks to include TCP, UDP, IGMP, ICMP, SSH, FTP, SMTP and NFS


  • Experience in configuring routers and switches


  • Demonstrated experience administering and configuring Windows and Linux operating systems


  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity standards and industry best practices to include a working knowledge of common computer based attacks such as buffer overflows, MITM, phishing etc.


  • Experience in the configuration and use of firewalls, IDS and IPS


  • Experience installing and administering major database platforms


  • Hands-on experience programming in either C, C++, Java, PHP, Perl or Python


  • Understanding of virtual environments, cloud hosting environments and associated storage technologies


  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:


 


Able to demonstrate an ability to apply advanced principles, theories and concepts comparable to those obtained with a Master's degree in a relevant field of study. Candidate should understand the missions, domains and challenges of MITRE customers. In addition, the candidate understands that he/she will be fully responsible for deliverables-including definition, completion, and technical quality, as well as assuring consistency across the responsibility span.
