The MITRE Satellite Communication department has an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic technical team having substantial impact on the design and development of next generation DoD communication systems. While our work focuses on radios/terminals that communicate with satellites, we are also responsible for developing communication capabilities that span space, aerial, terrestrial, nuclear and cyber military domains.

The early career engineer has the opportunity to utilize and develop their technical skills in disciplines such as: system engineering, system architectures, RF design, signal processing, embedded system design, networking or modeling and simulation.

Key Functions:
Apply sound engineering principles to:

  • Define and evaluate communication system architectures. 

  • Evaluate the design and performance of communication systems and sub-systems, including testing in live or lab environments. 

  • Perform system trade studies. 

  • Identify risks and develop technical solutions including
    prototyping activities and proof of concept initiative

Required Qualifications:
Currently pursuing or recently received a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or similar fields with an interest in communications or other relevant technical discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, plus 2 years relevant work experience including co-op or internship. 

  • Course work or experience in communication systems, communications theory, digital signal processing, hardware and software design concepts
