The Mission Equipment Design Group is responsible for all phases of product development from; requirements definition, concept and detail design, qualification and certification through integration into the air-vehicle and delivery. Our subsystems include; Crashworthy Seating, Crew Restraint systems, Rescue Hoist, Internal & External Cargo Handling, Armor Protection, Interior Furnishings, Medical Litters, Emergency Life Rafts and ALSE, Wire Strike Protection, Gun Mounts and Weapons/Pylon Store Integration. The Summer Intern position offers the opportunity to be exposed to Mechanical Design Engineering

The Summer Intern will be exposed to several Mission Equipment development projects on the new USAF Combat Rescue Helicopter Program (CRH) such as Medical Litter System, Crew Seating, Electric Powered Rescue Hoist and Crew Armor Protection, and External Gun Mount system. Duties will be assigned by the IPT Lead and individual senior project engineers in support of the design and component qualification of the aforementioned subsystem contracts. Tasking may include Drawing Release tracking and status, IPT Meeting attendance with action item support, exposure to specifications and supplier design documents and engineering change (EC) creation and drawing revision practical experience. The intern will gain valuable insight into the product development process from Risk Reduction (RR) mock-up for Human Factors evaluation, Detail Design/Critical Design Review (CDR), with action item and technical resolution through subsystem preparation entry to the Test Readiness Review (TRR). Exposure to contracted external suppliers and USAF customers as well as program leadership members is likely.

The preferred candidate will have some experience with 3D computer aided design tools such as CATIA V5, SOLIDWORKS or Pro-E

Basic Qualifications
Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering Major (entering Junior or Senior only)

Desired skills
Solid educational background (and GPA) in Mechanical Engineering basics such as; Mechanics Statics, Dynamics, Material Science, basic Stress Analysis/Machine Design, etc. A basic understanding of Manufacturing processes a plus
