MainPower is one of New Zealand’s leading electricity distributors.  Consumer owned, it supplies electricity to the North Canterbury and Kaikoura regions, which is one of the faster growing areas in New Zealand.  As one of the region’s largest employers, its comprehensive network services over 39,000 homes, farms and other businesses, providing an essential service to the region and allowing businesses and communities to grow, thrive and prosper.

MainPower is in the process of undergoing a significant transformation programme, ensuring it is able to adapt to future consumer needs in what is a rapidly changing technological environment.  As a result MainPower is now seeking a highly credible and experienced Chief Executive to drive the organisation’s strategy to realisation. This visionary leader will be able to manage the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities in the sector to continue to diversify, innovate and improve MainPower’s core business and realise growth opportunities.


The ideal candidate will be an individual for whom a strong health and safety culture is non-negotiable and be authentic in their leadership style.  Able to inspire staff at all levels, the ideal candidate will have experience in the energy sector or a similar service industry, and be comfortable developing networks to ensure the continuation of MainPower’s strong industry position.  The new Chief Executive will display proven commercial acumen and have a track record driving results.
