CH-53K Flight Test Engineering Lead, Pax River

Job Details

Provide senior test leadership providing technical oversight to the entire flight test engineering team. This job consists of working all facets of the test program. A strong ability to work both the technical and programmatic issues, building consensus between both Sikorsky and Government engineering leads, all while maintaining the safety standards of the MDSC is required.
*Assist in coordination and planning for all aircraft located at Pax in an attempt to most efficiently achieve the goals of many competing entities
*Act as a stakeholder (formerly known as invited rater/supervisor) as desired for much of the flight test team
*Lend support whenever technical areas of real-time and/or post-flight data analysis needs to be supplemented
*Able to work well with other SMEs in the pursuit of problem resolution as it must be understood that the problems are too great and varied for one person to control them all
*Must be able to balance the role of active support when needed, with the long range programmatic needs

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 9 years of experience
• Extensive experience in developmental helicopter flight testing and data analysis. Experience with Sikorsky flight test processes and ADAPS software preferred
• Minimum of four years of experience within Sikorsky, 20 preferred.
• Excellent analytical thinking and problem solving skills
• Leadership and people management experience on technical flight test projects is preferred
• Highly motivated team player with pronounced verbal and written technical communication skills
• Aviation knowledge

Additional Information:
- Must currently have or be capable of successfully completing an NCIC criminal background check to access Pax NAS
- Must have a valid photo ID (driver's license + social security card or birth certificate OR US passport)
- Must have valid driver's license/vehicle insurance to drive on base at Pax NAS
This position will be primarily located in Patuxent River, MD and is dependent upon the anticipated duration of the CH-53K helicopter test program, which is currently planned to start Q2 2017* and end in Q3 2019. The employee will initially begin this assignment working at the Development Flight Center in Jupiter, FL until approximately Q2 2017 when the program transitions to Patuxent River. At the conclusion of the CH-53K helicopter test program, the employee may be offered the opportunity to relocate to the Development Flight Center to support future flight test programs, pending business conditions. *Based on current test plan schedule

Desired skills
This assignment is Patuxent River, Maryland based. The job involves supervisory responsibilities, significant teamwork and coordination with flight test co-workers in a variety of disciplines (pilots, mechanics, inspectors, instrumentation and data technicians), customer representatives and subject matter expert design engineers. Good interpersonal skills are imperative. Personal flexibility is required to occasionally support unusual working hours and travel to conduct off-site testing. Candidate must possess exceptional time-management and prioritization skills. As this assignment covers all disciplines of developmental flight test, a strong cross discipline understanding of rotary wing development issues is required
