This position is offered in Apple's Product Safety Engineering department within our Product Integrity organization. Our mission is to make sure that Apple products are safe for our customers to use throughout the world and also comply with worldwide safety requirements

In Product Safety Group, we are seeking a high-energy, poised, data driven and detail oriented Engineer with a background in electrical engineering and battery development, manufacturing, quality and testing to support safety engineering, design manufacturing and testing of innovative consumer products

Key Qualifications:
•A minimum of 7 years experience in battery design, manufacture, quality and safety in the consumer, medical, military, transportation or space industries (10 years preferred). You are a domain expert in battery design, quality, safety and lab testing
•You love driving product testing for safety, compliance and manufacturing quality environments
•Evaluating manufacturing processes related to battery design and safety will be part of your role
•Your comprehensive knowledge of the requirements in IEC/EN60950 (GB4943), IEC/EN60065 (GB8898), IEC62133, GB31241, GB/T18287, UL1642, UL2054, and IEEE1725 will be essential for this role
•You understand applicable test equipment, test procedures, and agency requirements from above Safety Standards
•You are proficient in data analysis, modeling, and automation software
•Extensive lab and engineering experience with designing, building, debugging, and analyzing lab systems and test fixtures
•We are constantly looking for ways to improve our products by failure analysis and building solution from lessons learnt
•We believe in collaboration and success of this role is heavily dependent on being a great partner with vendors and contractors
•Technical writing and data analytics is paramount to this role
•You have excellent interpersonal skills and written skills
•You need limited hand holding and can work independently
•Can you exhibit accountability and do you believe in context over control? Any Management/supervisory experience to drive team is desirable

Description:

•Develop a deep understanding of Apple products and work with cross-functional teams to identify appropriate requirements, conduct testing, address safety requirements and resolve issues
•You will own and drive the safety organization’s battery test aspects of Apple products
•We use scientific methods to conduct design of experiments and failure analysis. You are familiar with these areas
•In order to excel in this role, you will need to develop deep understanding of manufacturing processes, identify and develop test requirements for those processes
•We work with suppliers, vendors, partners on daily basis and ensure that product safety is addressed and maintained during production
•Understanding workflow and designing lab efficiency

Education:
•BS in Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering is required, or related field
•If you have Master's degree or hold a PhD in above disciplines, even better
