Title: Autonomous Systems Engineer ATAS - 1389

Description: The GTRI Robotics and Autonomous Systems Division is looking for an M.S. or Ph.D. in computer science, robotics, aerospace engineering, ECE, or related fields specializing in multi-robot autonomy, desired with a background in system deployment and test.. You will be joining a growing robotics division and responsibilities will include development of new programs in autonomous systems.

The Principal Research Scientist/Engineer must have the following:

  • A Master's degree and eleven (11) years' relevant full-time experience; or
  • A Doctoral degree and seven (7) years' relevant full-time experience.
  • At least the most recent three (3) years of relevant experience shall have been at a responsible technical or managerial level. Preference will be shown for qualified personnel holding a Doctoral degree in their specific discipline. 

This opportunity is within the Aerospace, Transportation and Advanced Systems Lab ( ATAS ). ATAS conducts research for government and industry customers in aerodynamics, radar and weapons systems, food processing technology, unmanned systems and modeling of social systems. http://www.gtri.gatech.edu/atas

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for strong candidates who are self-motivated, have extensive experience, and have demonstrated leadership in the field of autonomous systems for defense applications. 

The position will involve generation of definition and establishment of new programs in the field of autonomous vehicles. This is a role with a strong customer-facing component to define and establish new research programs, as well as the need to provide technical leadership and oversight. Areas of interest include

•    Deployment of autonomous systems
•    Test and evaluation methods
•    Verification and validation

Experience with government contracting and proposal processes is required.

Applicants should be US citizens capable and willing to obtain a security clearance.
