PRIMARY FUNCTION: Automation and SCADA Engineer will provide professional automation, communication, and SCADA/EPMS engineering services to a wide range of electric power system clients. Engagements may include distribution or transmission utilities, commercial or industrial facilities, data centers, and power plants both conventional and renewable.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Complete complex design, documentation, and commissioning tasks on a defined time schedule
  • Design, assess, document, troubleshoot, configure, test, and commission all parts of a typical automation or SCADA/EPMS system
  • Develop and implement logic and control schemes on various platforms
  • Assess existing systems to provide technical advice, troubleshoot, test, and commission
  • Create, organize, and maintain engineering documentation including design drawings, system diagrams, tag/point lists, bills of material, assessment and evaluation notes, vendor specifications and requests for quotation/proposal
  • Create comprehensive and complete technical reports
  • Assist with proposals using time and travel estimates for a general scope of work



  • 2-5 years of experience performing a subset of technical work
  • BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • EIT certification preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer operating systems a plus
  • Experience with communication systems, networking, advanced programming, computer/microcontrollers, power systems, security, protective relaying, HMI design a plus


  • Structured programming skills in high-level computer and/or PLC languages
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 60% annually
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours to meet project deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs
  • Candidate must possess a high level of integrity
  • Initiative/self-sufficiency, and a strong desire to learn new technologies, approaches, and best practices
