Assistant/Associate Professor in Industrial Internet of Things


Cleveland State University is searching for active, culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber. The Washkewicz College of Engineering at Cleveland State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor, tenure track position with a focus on Smart Manufacturing and the Industrial Internet of Things. The anticipated start date is August 20, 2018.


The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program, supervise students, and actively participate in teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. We are particularly interested in candidates who value cross-disciplinary and collaborative research. The successful candidate will immediately have access to a wide variety of colleagues and research support from the IoT Collaborative, which is a joint effort between Cleveland State University and Case Western Reserve University aimed at establishing Cleveland as a leader in IoT innovation (


The Washkewicz College of Engineering offers Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctor of Engineering degrees in several engineering fields. All undergraduate programs are ABET accredited. The Washkewicz College of Engineering traces its roots back to 1923 as Fenn College and has since maintained its reputation for excellence in engineering education and research. The college was renamed in 2013 to Washkewicz College of Engineering in honor of the transformative gift from Donald and Pamela Washkewicz and the Parker Hannifin Foundation. Minimum Qualifications: Earned Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Ability to initiate and maintain an externally-funded research program.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching undergraduate as well as graduate engineering courses; excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community; Experience in building and maintaining inter-disciplinary research enterprises in the area of Industrial Internet of Things.
