EBMUD Job Title:   Assistant Engineer (Electrical – SCADA)

$97,968 – $119,088 Annually, Plus Excellent Benefits

Advance your career as an Assistant Engineer (Electrical) with an industry-leading water and wastewater utility. The current opening is in the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Engineering Section, part of East Bay Municipal Utility District’s (EBMUD’s) Operations and Maintenance Support Department. Assistant Engineer is the second-level position in the engineering series, reporting to a Senior Electrical Engineer. 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in:

  • Control System and Instrumentation Technical Knowledge
  • Computer and Control System Applications and Troubleshooting Skills
  • Project Planning and Management
  • Construction and Maintenance Support and Start-up
  • Planning, Technical Review, and Research
  • Strong Written Communication


1.    Bachelor’s degree in an ABET-accredited electrical (or closely related) engineering  curriculum OR a California EIT Certificate;

2.    Two years of engineering experience (subsequent to obtaining the degree) at a level comparable to, or higher than EBMUD’s Junior Engineer classification. An advanced degree in an accredited electrical engineering curriculum may be substituted for one pf the required years of experience.


Must possess the physical characteristics to perform the critical and important duties of the position including both office and field duties. Must possess a valid California driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must be willing to work overtime and 24/7 standby when needed.
