The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Manitoba, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Microelectronic and/or Photonic Materials.Within this broad area the Department especially seeks applicants having a strong research record in the development and use of Microelectronic/Photonic Materials and Fabrication Processes for Sensor-Systems. The successful applicant will have a vision to undertake collaborative research that leverages the resources found within the Manitoba Institute for Materials (MIM) as well as the Department’s Nano-Systems Fabrication Lab (NSFL). Applicants must hold a PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or in a related area, and be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba.

The Department offers two accredited undergraduate programs in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering, with over 450 students. It has a very strong graduate teaching and research program with over 200 graduate students pursuing either the Ph.D. or M.Sc. degree. The Department is comprised of 30 academic staff, 16 support staff and typically over 30 postdoctoral fellows, visiting scholars and adjunct professors. It maintains substantially funded research activities with industrial partners and government research laboratories, and is home to three Canada Research Chairs and one NSERC Industrial Research Chair.
