The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Merced invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the field of systems engineering with a focus on sustainability and infrastructure. We are especially interested in candidates with a background in sustainable building and civil systems, climate resilient infrastructure, sustainable energy systems, life-cycle assessment, earth systems engineering and management, and other related areas. The position will contribute to School of Engineering research strengths in the areas of sustainability, natural and managed ecosystems, and the food, energy, water nexus. The position will contribute to enhancing undergraduate (Civil & Environmental Engineering) and graduate (Environmental Systems) program curricula.

Applicants must have a strong publication record and a demonstrated potential to develop an independent and innovative research program, to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration, and to teach and train effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Candidates should possess a Ph.D. degree in civil and environmental engineering or a related area at the time of appointment, which will be effective July 2018 or later.
