Job Details

The Department of Computer Science in the College of Letters and Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of Networking and Security beginning August 2018. This is a full-time position with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, research, and service to the university, profession and community. Research expertise should complement existing faculty expertise.

Responsibilities include teaching 12 credits per semester in support of the department's programs; maintaining an active program of scholarly development; and participating in grant writing and service activities including (but not limited to) advising students, program assessment, and curriculum development. Candidate is also expected to contribute to program development in cyber security. More information regarding the programs offered by the department can be found at:


Minimum Qualifications: 

An earned doctorate or ABD [ABD candidates may apply but must have their degree completed by the contract start date in August 2018; if not, they will be hired on a one-year contract with the understanding that their degree will be completed before January 2019 in advance of their first scheduled review] in computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering is required. 

Highly Desired Qualifications:

Research emphasis in Networking and Security, including but not limited to, cloud or mobile security, internet of things and security, machine learning and data analytics applied to security, trusted computing, computer forensics, reverse malware engineering, security through hardware, data privacy, and applied cryptography. Exceptional applicants in other areas of research will also be considered. Demonstrable commitment to excellence in teaching and continued scholarly activity, grant writing as well as disciplinary affiliation and leadership ability in computer science are also desirable.
