The Department of Physics and Computer Science and Dual-Degree Engineering Programs in the Division of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at Xavier University of Louisiana invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Engineering beginning August 2018 (Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation systems). A Ph.D. is required; teaching experience, postdoctoral experience and/or experience with curriculum and new program development are preferred. Primary duties for this position will include teaching several engineering courses as well as General Physics lecture and labs and courses in the additional area of expertise. The successful candidate will also be expected to actively engage in scholarship activities involving undergraduate students, which may include scholarship of teaching and learning.

Founded in 1925 by Saint Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, Xavier is Catholic and historically Black. Located in New Orleans, the ultimate purpose of the University is to contribute to the promotion of a more just and humane society by preparing its students to assume roles of leadership and service in a global society.

The Department of Physics and Computer Science and Dual-Degree Engineering Programs has 11 faculty members and over 70 majors. The Department offers nine different types of major programs including Physics, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Dual-Degree Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental, and Civil Engineering (3+2). The Department faculty are proud of the quality of instruction, undergraduate research, instrumentation, and the accomplishments of their students.
