Job Details

Wilkes University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty at the rank of either Associate or Assistant Professor in Computer Engineering. The Department of Electrical Engineering and Physics is housed within the College of Science and Engineering and offers two undergraduate programs in Electrical Engineering and Physics. In addition, it offers M.S. degree programs in Electrical Engineering and Bioengineering. Applicants should be proficient in English with excellent oral and written communication skills, show promise for research and commitment to both undergraduate and graduate instruction in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The Department seeks candidates with interdisciplinary expertise with a demonstrated record in research and teaching or collaborative experience across other engineering and scientific fields.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering or an affiliated field. Experience in industry and/or in a research laboratory is preferred. Members of the faculty in the department pursue a broad research agenda that spans traditional areas and emerging interdisciplinary investigations in microfabrication and nanofabrication, semiconductors, antenna and applied electromagnetics, synthetic instrumentation, bioengineering, computational physics, biophysics, controls and mechatronics.

This position is specifically targeting a new faculty member with expertise in computer engineering with emphasis on microcontrollers and/or embedded systems. Persons who have cross-disciplinary research with one of the aforementioned categories and with the other programs within the department such as Physics and/or Bioengineering are also desired.   Familiarity with practical applications and an ability to work with industrial partners are important.
