Digital Processor ASIC/FPGA Designer:
The Staff ASIC/FPGA Design Engineer will be working in the Optical Payloads Center of Excellence (OPCoE) to develop a digital Roadmap to meet future Enterprise needs. The individual will also support new business activities across the SSC enterprise and be required to translate customer requirements into lower level specifications and scope the effort to meet the customer requirements. The Staff FPGA/ASIC designer will provide technical support across the enterprise as well as support Electro-Optical Payload development activities.

The selected individual will leverage their experience in ASIC and FPGA development, digital signal processing and transmission theory in addition to perform the following tasks:
• Lead or participate as a senior member of a small technical team of ASIC/FPGA designers to achieve project goals.
• Establish development project plans and manage them to completion.
• Derive specification based on system requirements.
• Develop RTL utilizing a hardware description language (e.g. VHDL, Verilog,
and/or SystemVerilog) and debug the design via simulation tools.
• Perform synthesis and place and route (FPGA) or support foundry backend
development activities (ASIC).
• Develop verification plans and approaches to support development.
• Conduct technical reviews and be able to present to internal and external customers

Basic Qualifications
The individual must have significant experience in ASIC and FPGA development, digital signal processing and transmission theory.
• Experience in the architecture definition, design, debug and test of FPGA
devices used in high reliability applications
• Demonstrated experience implementing and testing DSP/Algorithms high-speed data processing systems
• Demonstrated ability to derive specification based on system requirements.
• Develop RTL utilizing a hardware description language (e.g. VHDL, Verilog,
and/or SystemVerilog) and debug the design via simulation tools.
• Perform synthesis and place and route (FPGA) or support foundry backend
development activities (ASIC).
• Prior Experience in the support of development of verification plans and approaches to support development.
• Demonstrated experience executing trades, evaluating alternatives and presenting to management
• Involvement in complex designs from concept to production
• Experience implementing and testing various signal processing algorithms
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work with the Microsoft Office suite of documentation
• Ability to obtain a security clearance

Desired skills
Subject Matter Expert in ASIC and FPGA development, digital signal processing and transmission theory
• Experience with focal plane data processing.
• Experience implementing various compression algorithms.
• Demonstrated experience in the architecture definition, design, debug and test of FPGA devices used in high reliability applications with minimal technical oversight.
• Experienced in developing FPGAs/ASICs for high-reliability applications in
space environments
• Experience in design for detection and recovery of single event upsets
• HDL programming experience with VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog for
synthesis.
• Experience evaluating Information Processing cores from multiple vendors and performing trade studies to determine optimal solutions.
• Experience developing with Xilinx Virtex, Microsemi antifuse, standard cell or full custom ASIC
• Experience leading a team of ASIC/FPGA Designers
• Active TS/SCI Clearance
