ASIC & FPGA Design Engineer Staff

Job Details

The successful candidate will have experience in the following ASIC and FPGA design activities with minimal level of oversight:
- Draft a requirements specification based on requirements flowed down from parent specifications
- Develop RTL utilizing a hardware description language (e.g. VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog) and debug the design via simulation tools.
- Perform synthesis and place and route (FPGA) or support foundry backend development activities (ASIC).
- Work with an independent verification team to resolve bugs found in the design.
- Support technical reviews and be able to present to internal and external customers.
- Lead a team of designers

Basic Qualifications
- Experience in FPGA or ASIC design
- HDL programming experience with VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog
- Experience using MS office products is preferred
- Candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired skills
- Demonstrated experience implementing and testing Digital Signal Processing (DSP) for communications systems.
- Experience with OFDM based protocols
- Experienced in developing FPGAs/ASICs for high-reliability applications in space environments
- Experience developing with Xilinx Virtex-5QV and/or Xilinx 7-series or newer devices
- Experience evaluating IP cores from multiple vendors and performing trade studies to determine optimal solution
- Experience in the architecture definition, design, debug and test of FPGA devices used in high reliability applications with minimal technical oversight.
- Experience leading small-to-medium teams of FPGA designers, including reporting cost and schedule metrics to project management. - Must have successfully completed high complexity designs from concept to production
- Comfortable working a flexible schedule in a small, high performance team to achieve aggressive, quick-turn demonstrations.
- Experience with Mathworks Matlab/Simulink and HDL Coder for FPGA development.
- Experience with Mentor Graphics Modelsim or Questasim, Synopsys Synplify Pro, Xilinx ISE and/or Vivado, Microsemi Libero IDE and/or Libero SoC
