Join MITRE in support of the Nations Cybersecurity Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC). The right candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects to define, develop, and deploy innovative technology in support of the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE).

Bring your knowledge to bear as part of a team that defines, develops, and deploys new innovative technology to improve the nations cybersecurity in a state-of-the-art, collaborative environment. This internship will provide the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and problems to address the sponsors most pressing needs. This position will be primarily located at our customers facilities in Rockville, MD.



The Cybersecurity Intern will gain real world experience collaborating with innovators to provide real-world, standards-based cybersecurity capabilities that address business needs. This includes researching and defining cybersecurity challenges from technical and business perspectives and building practical, usable, and repeatable example implementations to address identified challenges. The implementations integrate commercially available technologies, are modular, easily adaptable, and repeatable to enable businesses to accelerate adoption of secure technologies.

Support MITREs effort for the NCCoE in various projects.  Engage with MITRE team members to develop and implement an appropriate and secure architecture to fit the project requirements.


Research, define, and assess cybersecurity challenges from technical and business perspectives

Build example security implementations using best practices, standards, and commercially available technologies to address cybersecurity challenges identified by industry

Support evaluations of new hardware/software, as required, to include engineering evaluations, testing, and an appropriate level of documentation


Studying one of the following items:

Cyber Security

Systems Engineering

Software Engineering

Computer Science

Electrical Engineering


Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity through coursework, certifications, or special projects.
