Manager, Power / Plasma / Propulsion

Lockheed Martin Advanced Development Programs

Responsible for staffing assignments of propulsion, power, and plasma physics including inlet and nozzle design, engine integration, propulsion performance, high-power pulsed-power systems, and plasma experiments to ADP programs. Define staffing needs, select and assign personnel to meet program needs. Responsible for all aspects of ADP program staffing (re-assignments and placements, recruitment and selection of new employees and terminations) and personnel management (training, mentoring, career development, performance and compensation, and promotions).

Support the development of technology plans and roadmaps in support of Skunk Works programs. Identify, pursue and manage internal and customer sponsored research and development programs. Make research and development contacts with DoD labs and other government agencies. Interface with LM Aero, other LM business units and external customers and suppliers to develop new technologies and transition them to LM Aero programs. Prepare and deliver presentations to LM senior management and external customers. May require travel to customer facilities and other LM sites.

Approximately one third of this assignment will be to support Skunk Works programs as an individual contributor. This tasking will include direct support to programs, proposal preparation and review and program reviews.

Good people skills as well as good oral and written communication skill are a must. A strong background in air vehicle development is required. Experience as a manager with performance management and schedule /budget responsibility desired. Experience in conceptual development desired. Proposal development experience highly desired. Significant experience in both the full scale aircraft development and IRAD/CRAD environments preferred.

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information

- Applicant must have an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret and obtain program access.

Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.


Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor (or above) degree in an engineering discipline

- Experience with proficiency in an area of air vehicle development

- Experience with shaping and leading a team in a dynamic business environment

- Experience with working/achieving results with IRAD and CRAD company and customer - funded efforts
