Non tenure-track Academic General Faculty position in Electrical and Computer Engineering

The School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks well-qualified applicants for an Open Rank (Assistant, Associate or Professor) Academic General Faculty (non-tenure track) position in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). A significant part of the responsibilities will involve teaching the newly designed sequence of ECE FUN (fundamentals) courses, combining topics from elementary electronics, circuits, and signals and systems in a coherent sequence that includes hands-on experimentation from early on, in parallel with conceptual learning. Relevant academic or industrial experience will be a plus. The primary responsibilities include teaching, educational innovation, curriculum development, scholarship, and service to the department. Candidates interested in developing a research program in any of the ECE areas, including research in engineering education, are encouraged to apply. Appointment rank will be commensurate with experience.

A PhD in a relevant field must be in hand by the start date of the appointment. A commitment to teaching excellence is essential, as is evidence of an explicit commitment to diversity and of advancing understanding and outcomes for underrepresented groups. The preferred candidate has a broad background in electronic circuits and systems, and an interest in innovative undergraduate teaching, laboratory instruction, and capstone engineering project design and supervision.

UVA is proud to have a strong culture of collaboration and collegiality and is committed to creating collaborative and diverse environments necessary to solve the next generation of research challenges.
